RE: Transportation Safety
Mayor Joey, Commissioners and Mark Egge;
Couple of items:
1 – Would like to congratulate Mayor and Commissioners for finally orchestrating effectivesnow removal by requiring no parking zones on alternating sides of the street. Seemed so
simply, but you over came the complexities to make it happen.
2- Transportation Safety: Provide funding for more flashing lights at heavily used intersections.Willson and College, South Third and Westridge. There are many others.
Of course funding is always the problem. Prior to returning for Bozeman life style and raising
our child, we lived in a similar small community which required that all Bozeman residentsmust have a $25 City sticker on their rear window or bumper to park on City streets.
Commercial business vehicles could not park on streets overnight.
Would suggest we do the same, and use such funding for enhanced pedestrian and bicycleroutes.
The $25 sticker cost is not extravagant, but simply good public policy.
Of course our usual self-focused special interest groups will argue, “more city taxes” or “
further burden impoverished citizens”. Yes, there will be some City cost for staffing etc whichmay impact cost of the sticker.
But your job is public policy for good of entire community.
Also consider higher sticker prices for commercial vehicles, construction and boat trailers
which currently litter all of our narrow street neighborhoods year round.
Would sure like to see positive action from the Commissioners, articulating scheduledimprovements, in consideration of providing funding for enhanced transportation alternatives,
ie: walking/biking.
Thank You for your work.
