To the Bozeman City Commission,
The death of Leslie Brown on Oak Street is the latest tragedy in a predictable cycle. Following
the losses of Alexa Dzintars, Richard Evers, and Kelly Fulton, it is clear that our streets arebeing designed for speed rather than the safety of the people who actually live here.
As you approach the April 14 work session, I urge you to:
Prioritize City Residents: Our infrastructure should serve the safety of Bozeman taxpayers,
cyclists, runners, and families rather than prioritizing high-speed throughput for countyresidents driving through our neighborhoods.
Fix the Funding Gap: The $150,000 budget for safety features is insufficient. If state
restrictions are the hurdle, I urge you to lobby for change or put a dedicated safety levy beforecity voters.
Accelerate the SAFE Plan: We need immediate road diets and protected crossings.
Please stop treating safety as a secondary consideration to traffic volume. It is time to break
this cycle.
