I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed R-B zoning for the Hanson Lane
annexation, Application 25775. As a resident of Harvest Creek for over a decade, I am deeplyconcerned that introducing five-story buildings into an area characterized by single-family
homes constitutes irresponsible spot zoning. This proposal ignores the established density ofsix units per acre in our neighborhood and threatens to set a dangerous precedent for the entire
Fowler Avenue corridor. The transition from R-1 and R-2 homes to high-intensity mixed-usedevelopment is far too jarring and undermines the essential character and livability of our
community.
My primary concerns involve the safety of our children and the integrity of our streets. Mychildren attend school nearby and use these roads daily, and I regularly walk and bike through
this specific area. Extending Annie Street as a through street without significant trafficcalming measures creates a hazardous raceway directly toward Emily Dickinson Elementary.
Furthermore, the lack of transit and services in this area does not justify R-B intensity. Theclosest shopping is over a mile away, meaning every new resident will rely on a car, further
congesting our already strained residential roads. I urge the Community Development Boardto recommend R-A zoning instead. This classification still satisfies the Urban Neighborhood
designation of the Community Plan while respecting the existing development pattern andensuring the safety of pedestrians and students in our neighborhood.
