Dear Commissioners, Thank you for the chance to comment on the upcoming Transportation Master Plan. I moved to Bozeman from Great Falls in 1978 to attend MSU. Since graduating in 1983, I have lived in eight different places around town. For the last 29 years, my wife and I have lived a few hundred yards from the corner ofHighland Blvd and Kagy Blvd. Like everywhere in town, we have watched the volume of vehicles and aggressiveness of drivers slowly but consistently increasing over the decades. Our neighbors in the Highland and Kagy area are fans traffic calming, keeping Kagy down toone lane each way, and finding ways for the Kagy & Highland intersection to be safer for pedestrians and bicyclists. Everyone I have polled in the area ideally would like to see a goodquality traffic circle eventually in place at the intersection, rather than a traffic light. 25 years ago, our grade-school aged children struggled to cross that intersection safely in order to catch the buss to Longfellow. That main problem was the speed of the cars coming from theeast on Kagy and headed west at very high rates of speed. That problem still exists today and in fact the westbound vehicles on Kagy seem to be traveling faster than ever. The traffic backed up in the mornings, and between 4:00 PM and 7:00 pm has growntremendously. The backup can be fifty cars deep on Highland. That situation continues to get worse as well. A traffic light system will do nothing to alleviate these issues. I hope you will strongly consider plugging in a traffic circle for this intersection as the bestsolution in the master plan. It would constitute a single initiative that would have multiple positive benefits. Thanks again for the opportunity to comment. Sean Gerrity 2317 Highland Blvd
