Dear BozemanCity Commissioners,
I appreciate your efforts to keep so many important balls in the air while listening to the hue and cry from the public.
Thank you - not an enviable task.
This morning’s “Bozeman Daily Chronicle” held an interesting piece concerning the safety of our streets. The points
made by the author, Mark Egge seemed valid and doable with public support for setting priorities/funding regarding
safer streets for pedestrians and bicyclists. If you have not read his opinion piece titles, “Will we finally focus on
safer streets for cyclists, runners”? please do.
When reviewing the Transportation Master Plan on April 14th please consider:
1. Encouraging consistent enforcement of traffic violations by law enforcement.
2. Kagy does not need a $32 million ‘2 lane to 4 lane transformation’ - the flashing pedestrian crosswalk lights are
affective and only the road surface needs upgrading (I.e. no pedestrian tunnels or widening are necessary).
3. The use of flashing pedestrian crosswalk lights should be a priority when considering budgets.
4. Shared-use paths are needed where possible on existing roads and most certainly with new road construction.
Thank you for your time and efforts regarding the Transportation Master Plan.
Respectfully,
Mark Payne
