Dear planners,
I have lived near the intersection of Kagy and Highland for 30 years. I raised my kids anddogs there. During that time I have witnessed or been involved in constant near misses
between cars, pedestrians and bicyclists. There used to be a stop sign for cars coming to theintersection from the east, which lowered everyone’s speed, but it was removed.
The speed at which cars come from the east creates a sense of urgency for everyone at theintersection creating a very unsafe environment for everyone, but especially those not in a car.
Adding more lanes will exacerbate, not improve this problem. Please consider traffic calming methods used successfully all over the world instead of more
lanes. Kayla Gerrity
