I am writing to the Community Development Board to express my deep opposition to theproposed R-B zoning for the Hanson Lane annexation, Application 25775. Having lived at
3098 Rose Street for over a decade, I have watched this neighborhood grow into a peacefulcommunity of single-family homes. Placing five-story buildings directly adjacent to R-1 and
R-2 properties is the definition of spot zoning and completely ignores the establisheddevelopment pattern of our streets. The R-B designation is far too intense for an area that lacks
the transit and services to support it; the nearest grocery store is over a mile away. I amparticularly worried that extending Annie Street as a through road toward Emily Dickinson
Elementary without significant traffic calming will create a dangerous raceway for ourchildren. Our existing infrastructure for water and stormwater was never intended for this level
of density, and I fear the tax burden of these upgrades will fall on long-time residents likemyself. Growth should happen reasonably, and R-A zoning would much better satisfy the
Community Plan while respecting the families already living here. I request that you extendthe public comment period to allow for more meaningful community input and reconsider this
high-intensity zoning that threatens our property values and safety, and to address promisesmade in the past by the city.
