I am writing to the Community Development Board and City Commission to express my deepopposition to the proposed R-B zoning for the Hanson Lane annexation, Application 25775.
Having lived at 3168 Oliver Street for over twenty years, I have watched our neighborhoodgrow, but this proposal feels like a betrayal of the community we have built. Proposing five-
story buildings directly adjacent to our quiet, single-family homes is the definition of spotzoning. This level of density is completely inappropriate for an area where the surrounding
infrastructure was never designed to support such intensity.
My concerns are rooted in the daily reality of living here. I walk and bike through this arearegularly, and I am terrified of what will happen when Annie Street is punched through as an
arterial raceway toward Emily Dickinson Elementary without significant traffic calming. Weare already seeing a massive surge in congestion on Durston due to the building density
between Hunter's Way and Valley Drive; adding R-B intensity here will make our streetsunusable and unsafe for our children. I formally request a comprehensive environmental and
traffic impact study before any vote is taken. We cannot allow a precedent to be set that turnsthe Fowler corridor into a wall of high-rises. R-A zoning is the only responsible path forward
to maintain the safety and character of our neighborhood.
