Dear Bozeman City Officials, As homeowners in the Harvest Creek Neighborhood, we are very concerned about the annexation andzoning of the property near Annie. Any zoning in the Annie/Folwer area that allows constructionbeyond two stories is inappropriate and unacceptable for this established community because itfundamentally alters the character of the existing neighborhoods. Time and again, the City has demonstrated an inability—or unwillingness—to rein in oversized, out-of-scale development. Developers are effectively being given free rein, while residents are left to deal withthe long-term consequences: loss of neighborhood character, visual blight, strained infrastructure, anda diminished quality of life. The corridor along 27th Avenue between Oak and Baxter stands as a glaring warning. Those buildingsare excessive in height and mass, completely out of proportion, and fundamentally incompatible withthe surrounding neighborhoods. They are not examples to emulate—they are mistakes we should beworking to avoid repeating. Claims that increased zoning intensity is necessary are further undermined by the reality that Bozemanalready has a substantial number of unoccupied apartments. Allowing larger and taller buildings in thisarea will not solve affordability challenges; it will only accelerate overdevelopment while erasing thecharacter of existing neighborhoods. This community deserves firm, enforceable zoning that respects its established scale and protectsresidents from unchecked development. Anything less signals that neighborhood stability andcommunity input are secondary to developer convenience. Bozeman can—and must—do better. Sincerely, Michael and Shawna Wright1014 Harmon WayBozeman, MT
