I am writing to the Community Development Board and City Commission to express mystrong opposition to the proposed R-B zoning for the Hanson Lane annexation, Application
25775. Having lived in this area for several years, I have seen how much we value the quiet,low-density character of our neighborhood. Moving forward with R-B zoning, which allows
for five-story buildings, is a literal textbook case of spot zoning. It is completely inappropriateto drop high-intensity, mixed-use development into a space surrounded by R-1 and R-2 single-
family homes. A much more sensible and harmonious choice would be R-A zoning, whichmatches the existing density of six units per acre and fulfills the Community Plan without
overwhelming our infrastructure. My home on Rose Street is part of a community that was notbuilt for this level of intensity. Beyond the density, the extension of Annie Street as a through-
way without guaranteed traffic calming poses a serious safety risk to children walking toEmily Dickinson Elementary. Furthermore, because this area lacks nearby transit and
shopping, residents will be entirely car-dependent, leading to significant traffic congestion anda strain on our roads and sewers. This proposal sets a dangerous precedent for the entire
Fowler corridor and risks devaluing the homes we have worked so hard to maintain. I ask thatyou please stick to the R-A designation that respects the neighbors who already live here.
