To the Community Development Board and City Commission,
I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed annexation and R-B rezoning of
the Hanson Lane (Annie Street) parcel, application 25775. As a homeowner who has lived onSpringbrook Avenue for nearly a decade, I’ve seen this neighborhood grow, and this proposal
flies in the face of what makes Harvest Creek such a special place. The idea of allowing R-Bzoning, meaning buildings up to 45 feet or five stories, directly next to established single-
family homes like mine, is frankly alarming. This is textbook spot zoning and completelyinappropriate for an area predominantly R-1 and R-2, with densities of six units per acre or
less.
R-A zoning would be a far more suitable fit, aligning with the existing development patternand satisfying the Community Plan’s Urban Neighborhood designation without imposing such
intense development. Frankly, this area simply lacks the transit and services to justify R-B —the closest shopping options are over a mile away, making this a car-dependent design.
Beyond the density, extending Annie Street as a through-road towards Emily DickinsonElementary without proper traffic calming is a serious safety hazard. My children attend a
nearby school and use these roads daily; the thought of increased traffic, without measures toslow it, is deeply concerning. This proposal sets a dangerous precedent for future high-density
rezoning along Fowler between Durston and Oak. I formally request that the City prioritize thesafety and character of our established neighborhoods.
Thank you for your time.
