To the Community Development Board,
I am writing to express my profound concern regarding Application 25775, the proposed annexation and R-B
rezoning of the Hanson Lane parcel. As a homeowner who has cherished our quiet neighborhood on Lily Drive for
over a decade, I am deeply troubled by the thought of 45-foot, five-story buildings looming over an area currently
characterized by R-1 and R-2 single-family homes. This isn't just about property lines; it's about preserving the
character and safety we've worked so hard to build. The idea of "spot zoning" an R-B development here feels like a
betrayal of the established residential fabric and sets a dangerous precedent for every other parcel along Fowler
Avenue.
This area simply lacks the infrastructure to support such intense development. There's no reliable transit, and the
closest shopping is a mile away — hardly a justification for R-B. My children attend a nearby school, and we use
these very roads daily, often on bikes. The proposed extension of Annie Street as a through-road to Emily Dickinson
Elementary, without adequate traffic calming, is a catastrophe waiting to happen. The potential for increased traffic
congestion, dangerous intersections, and a significant risk to pedestrian and cyclist safety is immense. This
development would destroy the quiet, peaceful, and safe environment we love. Please, consider the impact on
families like mine and reject this inappropriate R-B zoning in favor of R-A, which aligns with our existing
community.
