To the Community Development Board regarding Application 25775: I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed annexation and R-B rezoning of the Hanson Lane parcel. As a homeowner on Oliver Street, I’ve lived in this area for several years and have followed city planning efforts closely, including attending many City Commission meetings. This R-B proposal introduces an excessive building density and height that is simply inappropriate for a neighborhood surrounded by R-1 and R-2 single- family homes. Allowing 45-foot, 5-story buildings right next to existing low-density residences is textbook spot zoning and would fundamentally alter the character and livability of our community. Furthermore, I have grave concerns about the extension of Annie Street into Harvest Creek. I often walk and bike through this area with my family, and the idea of it becoming an unobstructed thoroughfare to Emily Dickinson Elementary without adequate traffic calming is a serious safety risk for pedestrians and cyclists. The current area lacks the transit and commercial services that would justify such high-density zoning; the closest shopping is well over a mile away. Approving R-B zoning here would also set a dangerous precedent, opening the door for similar high-density rezoning along the entire Fowler Avenue corridor, completely transforming our established residential areas. I formally request an extension of the public comment period to ensure all community voices are heard before any vote on such a transformative decision. Kyle Johnson Sent from my iPhone
