I am writing to express my strong opposition to Application 25775, the Hanson Lane annexation and R-B rezoning
proposal. As a homeowner who has lived on Allison Court for several years, I am deeply concerned about the
negative impacts R-B zoning would have on our established low-density residential area, and specifically Harvest
Creek. R-B zoning, allowing buildings up to five stories and 45 feet, represents clear spot zoning. This intensity is
completely out of character with the surrounding R-1 and R-2 single-family homes, and I believe it sets a dangerous
precedent for future high-density rezoning along the entire Fowler Avenue corridor.
The argument that this area requires R-B zoning because of its "Urban Neighborhood" designation misunderstands
what makes a true urban neighborhood. This parcel lacks the essential transit infrastructure, close proximity to
services, and walkability that would justify such high density. The closest shopping is over a mile away, and reliable
public transit is nonexistent. Furthermore, extending Annie Street as a through-street towards Emily Dickinson
Elementary without proper traffic calming measures is a serious safety concern for our children and other
pedestrians and cyclists. Prioritizing vehicle flow over neighborhood safety is unacceptable. I formally request a
comprehensive environmental and traffic impact study before any vote is taken, and an extension of the public
comment period to allow for more meaningful community input given the gravity of this decision.
