To the Community Development Board and City Commission, I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed R-B rezoning for the Hanson Lane (Annie Street) parcel, Application 25775. As a homeowner who has lived on Farmall Street for nearly a decade, directly adjacent to this area, I am deeply concerned about the radical shift this would bring. R-B zoning, allowing for 45-foot, 5-story buildings, is completely out of character with our established single-family R-1 and R-2 neighborhood. This feels like textbook spot zoning. I walk and bike through this exact area regularly with my children who attend Emily Dickinson Elementary, and the idea of Annie Street becoming an unmitigated through-street, funneling high-volume traffic directly towards our school, fills me with dread. It will create a significant safety hazard for our kids and all pedestrians. This area simply lacks the transit and services to justify such intense density, and allowing R-B here sets a dangerous precedent for the entire Fowler corridor, threatening the very fabric and property values of our community. Please consider the profound impact this will have on our quality of life and the safety of our children, and instead, maintain the R-A zoning consistent with the community plan and surrounding development.
