(Please share this comment with the Urban Parks & Forestry Board and Historic Preservation Advisory Board. Thank you.) Monday, April 6, 2026, 7:45 a.m. Dear City Commission, Forestry and Parks divisions; Community Development Department, Urban Parks & Forestry Board (UPF), and Historic Preservation AdvisoryBoard (HPAB): Bozeman's urban forest (all trees on public and private lands within Bozeman's city limits) is important both ecologically and for the many beneficial, non-consumptive ecosystemservices this forest provides to the community as a whole. Moreover, Bozeman's urban forest is an integral part of our city's historical character and sense of place. As such, theCity of Bozeman should develop a voluntary Heritage Tree Program to celebrate significant and meaningful trees—and perhaps stands of trees—within Bozeman's city limits. Heritage trees are mentioned in the Urban Forest Management Plan's (UFMP) publicengagement plan; however, a voluntary Heritage Tree Program is not mentioned by name in either the UFMP update itself or in the UPF's Work Plan. Consequently, please explicitlyname and include a voluntary Heritage Tree Program in the UFMP update and in the UPF's 2026-27 Work Plan. Also, please hold a joint meeting/work session of the UPF and HPAB to help develop avoluntary Heritage Tree Program because such a meeting/work session would combine the expertise of both boards. Thank you for considering these requests. Sincerely, Daniel Carty 213 N. 3rd Ave Bozeman, MT 59715
