Become a Dirt Hero
Bozeman City Commissioners,
SWMMBA’s mission is to improve the mountain biking experience for riders
of all skill levels by maintaining existing trails, developing new ones, and advocating
for continued access to public lands. At its core, the organization is committed to
building a strong, engaged, and inclusive mountain biking community across
southwest Montana.
Bikefill represents a major step forward in supporting that growing
community. This purpose-built bike park is designed for all ages and abilities,
offering a progressive, skill-based learning environment that accommodates a wide
range of riding styles. Planned features include a beginner skills area, cross-country
trails, cyclocross-specific terrain, and downhill-oriented flow trails at varying
difficulty levels, along with gathering spaces that encourage connection and
community use.
The park will play an important role in supporting youth cycling programs
such as Bozeman Youth Cycling and local NICA teams by providing a dedicated
space to develop riding skills, confidence, and trail etiquette. It will also expand
access through adaptive-friendly trail design, creating opportunities for riders of all
abilities and supporting organizations like Eagle Mount in growing their
programming.
Located close to town in the valley bottom, Bikefill is uniquely positioned to
be a year-round resource—from winter fat biking to an early-season riding
destination when higher-elevation trails remain snow-covered. It will serve as a key
transition space for riders to build fitness and refine skills before heading into the
mountains.
As both Bozeman and its cycling community continue to grow, Bikefill
addresses increasing demand on existing trail systems by providing a dedicated,
thoughtfully designed facility. Through a partnership between the City of Bozeman,
Gallatin Valley Land Trust, and SWMMBA, this project will transform underutilized,
impacted land into a vibrant hub for recreation, learning, and community
connection.
Thank you for your support of this project.
