As a lifelong resident witha home and business in the downtown business district, I paid for on-street parkingfor my business. Now, with condos, construction, apartments, businesses in residential areas: those parking spaces I paid for are taken by 7:30 AM! Having allowed housing without required parking on-site, a whole parking debacle has beenstrained-and-stretched: with no end in sight. Common sense: not dollars: wouldhave curbed this daily stressor long ago. A proposal was suggested some time ago to build a parking garage behind theGallatin County Courthouse. What has happened with that? Why is it notprogressing? (Not that that will help people who live downtown in apartments above stores on Main Street...Which has always been a problem...) Perhaps an agreement with churches--parking-permit-required--residents couldutilize one space on weekdays? Or have a park-and-ride-- utilizing parking at the mall or other shopping center areas; negotiate some-kind of mutually beneficial use agreement. Sincerely, James Savage 103 N. Grand Bozeman, MT
