I am writing to protest the creation of Special Improvement Lighting District 796 which is
being considered at the April 14th Commission Meeting.
Paying for infrastructure is something we all need to chip in on, but I oppose this project
because it could worsen noise. In the last few years, there has been a noticeable increase
of vehicles with aftermarket exhausts flying around the neighborhood at night. This may be
related to recent property developments and street improvements, or maybe it’s just
society. In any case, improvements which make it easier to drive fast, or feel more
commercial and impersonal will encourage a particular segment of motorists to drive fast
and wake me up when I try to sleep with a window open.
