The proposed communication campaign roll out is less about presenting ideas and more about capturing attention—introducing the project through bold, graphic materials and clear messaging that explain what the Vision Planning process is, why it matters, and how and when the community can participate. Through coordinated outreach and the launch of branded materials and digital platforms, this effort is designed to build early interest and ensure residents understand how to stay involved from the outset. Paralleling the launch of the public communication strategy, we will hold the second round of stakeholder meetings during this visit. These meetings will be more of a workshop in orientation (90-120 min), focusing on reviewing and discussing PORT’s site analysis and due diligence scope of work. Considerations will also focus on case studies and potential precedents for each of the (X) identified reach typologies of the Bozeman Creek study area. PORT Visit #3: June 1-3 This visit will mark the first open public gathering of the Bozeman Creek Vision Planning process. Building on our review of existing plans and reports, on-the-ground and desktop site analysis, and ongoing conversations with stakeholder groups, PORT will organize a science-fair style event that will allow the public to explore and consider a set of clear and compelling “Big Ideas” that frame future possibilities for Bozeman Creek. Each “Big Idea” will be associated with the particular character of an existing reach of the Creek and potential opportunities for enhancement that a particular reach affords. Within each reach, the “Big Idea” will explore themes such as access, ecology, recreation, connectivity, and identity, and are intended to spark conversation about possibilities for transformation—in both the near and long term. The goal of this event is to inspire public imagination and invite reaction in order to better understand community priorities for each segment of Bozeman Creek before advancing into developing Draft Vision Plan recommendations. PORT Visit #4: July 13-15 PORT will conduct additional workshops with stakeholder groups to share updates on emerging planning/design concepts, and takeaways from the first public gathering. These sessions are intended to be focused and productive—refining technical considerations, identifying implementation constraints, and ensuring that the direction of recommendations remain aligned with community priorities. PORT Visit #5: August 7-9 The second open public event will present the Draft Vision Framework Plan in a highly visible and accessible format during (or before) the Sweet Pea Festival. We imagine this tabling/tenting to be positioned near Main Street in Downtown Bozeman. This setting allows the project to reach a broader cross-section of residents and visitors while showcasing tangible design ideas through drawings and a physical model. Feedback gathered during this event will inform final refinements prior to development of the pre-final plan. PORT Visit #6: September 21-23 PORT will reconvene with stakeholder groups to review feedback received during the Draft Vision Framework Plan public event and discuss proposed refinements and revisions. These meetings or workshops will focus on confirming priorities, identifying implementation phasing considerations, and ensuring consensus before advancing the plan toward final recommendations. PORT Visit #7: November 9-11 The third open public event will present the near-final Vision Plan, clearly illustrating how community input has shaped the framework. This event serves as a final opportunity for clarification and affirmation prior to City Commission review, ensuring transparency in how decisions were made and how the plan is positioned for implementation. PORT Visit #8: December 15 During this trip, PORT will formally present the Final Vision Plan Framework to the Bozeman City Commission. The presentation will summarize the engagement process, key findings, guiding principles, and the overall vision and recommended strategies, demonstrating broad community alignment and outlining next steps toward implementation.
