Dear Members of the Urban Parks and Forestry Board,
I am writing to express my strong support for the GVLT Bikefill project.
What stands out most about this proposal is the depth and quality of public engagement behind
it. With more than 1,000 survey responses and four public engagement sessions, this projectclearly reflects meaningful input from the community. The resulting design demonstrates a
thoughtful and responsive approach, incorporating public feedback with a high level of careand attention to detail.
There is clear enthusiasm for this project, and for good reason. The Bikefill has been designedwith a “something for everyone” philosophy, offering opportunities for riders of all ages,
abilities, and styles—especially families seeking an accessible and welcoming place torecreate together.
Equally important is the project’s balanced approach to land stewardship. GVLT has made adeliberate effort to maximize trails and amenities while conserving approximately 17 acres—
about a quarter of the site—to protect wildlife habitat and preserve clean water along ChurnCreek. This balance between recreation and conservation reflects strong, forward-thinking
planning.
Overall, the GVLT Bikefill project represents a well-conceived, community-driven investment
in outdoor recreation that aligns with both environmental and public use priorities. I stronglyencourage your support.
Sincerely,
Jake Abel
