Hello,
I would like to submit my comment for the Bikefill project. I am in agreement with BTC's
suggestions which are listed below.
The perimeter trail on the very north property line appears to be located within Zone 1
of the watercourse setback- (green-closest to creek), rather than Zone 2 - (blue) which is generally prohibited by City code. One suggestion would be to cross creek at
earlier point which allows for the trail to be perpendicular to creek and not linger inZone 1.
A trail bisects the "conservation area" in its widest area (see on Overall Trail Map as#6). Is this the best way to manage the conservation area? One suggestion would be
to remove and relocate the bisecting trail to the west where it can cross the creekadjacent to the existing access road.
There is trail redundancy in the southwest corner of Bikefill near Churn Creek. Theperimeter trail and X-C trail are side by side. One suggestion would be to consolidate
the trails to relieve pressure on Churn Creek.
Sacajawea Audubon Society has offered to do an initial bird survey in anticipation of
development which BTC supports. A bird survey this spring will establishbaseline data for future monitoring of the park's habitat improvement efforts.
Again, I favor all the recommendations from BTC. I am a neighbor to the site over on ManleyRoad (Churn Creek runs along my property) and donor of this project. I love to bike and can't
wait to use the park. I also feel Churn Creek should be protected, wildlife corridors should bemaintained/improved where possible and habitat should be monitored.
Thank you for your time and help with this project! Happy to discuss this further at anytime.
