Dear Commissioners, I would like to share my comments regarding the proposed trail plan and to support the concerns raised by the Bozeman Tree Coalition that has studied the project closely. I would like to highlight the following: - Watercourse Setback: The perimeter trail on the northern property line appears to belocated within Zone 1 of the watercourse setback (the green zone closest to the creek), rather than Zone 2 (blue). As this is generally prohibited by City code, I suggest crossing the creek atan earlier point to allow the trail to run perpendicular to the creek, avoiding a prolonged presence in Zone 1. - Conservation Area: A trail currently bisects the widest part of the conservation area(identified as #6 on the Overall Trail Map). To better manage this area, I suggest relocating this bisecting trail to the west, where it can cross the creek adjacent to the existing access road. - Wildlife Impact: For at least the last 10 years, we have observed a pair of nesting northernharriers raising chicks near Churn Creek near the conservation area. These raptors are ground nesters and have been using that area for the nest. While recreation is highly valued inBozeman, it is essential to protect the wild spaces that these creatures depend on. Thank you for considering these impacts on our local environment and for representing the wildlife that cannot speak for themselves. Sincerely, Peggy Olliff
