Dear City Commission: In my global travels and living through Seattle’s growth problems for 40 years, there are manyparallels and examples of best practices for balancing growth, resources, and cultural character. We shouldn’t move forward without involving the public and experts such asPatricia Chase, author of Envisioning Better Cities: A Global Tour of Good Ideas https://a.co/d/05tGuHpGRecently. The work is from 2019, but these concepts apply now, more than ever. There are multiple other resources. Many citizens believe that realtors and developers run Bozeman. Appearances foment thatmisperception because new construction sure looks like it! This is a good opportunity to upgrade Bozeman’s brand value and become the city recognized for its remarkable planningand community, not cookie cutter infill, loss of a showcase Historic District and thoughtless, shabbily built sprawl. I support the City Commission adopting an IZO to temporarily prohibit demolitions and new large developments (e.g. over 30,000 sq ft) within the NCOD until the update is complete anduntil the City is able to hire a new Historic Preservation Officer. Thank you for your consideration, Kaye Kaye Counts (206) 214-8717 125A E Alderson St. Bozeman, MT 59715
