To the Bozeman City Commission,
I own property in and reside within the Neighborhood Conservation Overlay District. Duringthe last seven years I have watched with dismay as clusters of six-story condo and apartment
buildings have sprouted in my neighborhood. The Commission has permitted the developersto build sidewalk to sidewalk, with minimal or no setbacks, to block the sun and consequently
access to solar power, to cut down trees and vegetation, and to clog the once quiet streets withtraffic. The Commission has endorsed the developer’s priority to extract as many dollars per
square foot from these structures as possible, imposing on the neighborhood the cost of losingits once friendly, intimate character.
The proposed Interim Zoning Ordinance (MCA 76-2-306) is a sensible measure to pause the
breakneck pace of massive, out-of-scale, out-of-character development, and to allowconsiderate deliberation on the updating of NCOD guidelines. I join many of my neighbors
concerned with keeping Bozeman livable in urging the adoption of this ordinance.
Respectfully,
William Lazar608 N. Tracy Ave.
