I am writing to encourage the City step up and address both the regular speeding and unsafe pedestrian crossings
on W Oak Street, specifically between the Davis St circle and Ferguson where the Regional Park is located. There are
three pedestrian crossings for people from the Oak Springs and surrounding subdivisions to cross W Oak to reach
the Park. These crosswalks are all heavily used daily yet there are no flashing lights available for pedestrians to
ensure the 4 lanes of fast traffic adequately see them. There are flashing crosswalks at the Davis circle and randomly
at other crossings but none for crosswalks going directly to the large regional park. The death of Leslie Brown is a
tragedy, but it won't be our last if proper safety measures are not installed. I also strongly suggest speed bumps or
other physical deterrents to speeding be applied. My home faces the park, at the corner of Meagher and W Oak,
and I can assure the percentage of speeders on that road is well over 50%.
