Dear City Commission,
We are writing to you as concerned residents of our community regarding a recent tragic
incident at the crosswalk near Agate Ave and W Oak Street, where a pedestrian was sadlystruck and killed while crossing the road on February 26, 2026. This heartbreaking event has
highlighted a critical safety issue that we believe requires immediate attention.
The section of Oak St between Ferguson Avenue and Davis Lane is a high traffic area, yet
drivers frequently fail to yield to pedestrians due to the current signage not being visibleenough and/or vehicles driving at high speeds.
Installing flashing crosswalk lights at any of the crosswalks on Oak between Ferguson Avenueand Davis Lane would provide a much-needed visual cue to motorists, encouraging them to
slow down and remain vigilant. Given the unfortunate loss to the community, we strongly urgethe city to prioritize these improvements as part of its ongoing commitment to protect all
residents.
Thank you for considering this matter with the urgency it deserves. We would appreciate the
opportunity to hear about any plans or discussions underway regarding this issue, and we arehopeful that together we can work towards safer streets for everyone.
Sincerely,Curtis & Elisa Ramsey
