Regarding City Commission vacancies:
Special Elections should be held for any vacancy with a remaining term of 12 months or
longer.
Anyone appointed to a temporary seat (vacancies less than 12 months) should be prohibitedfrom running in the immediate subsequent election. This removes the incentive to use
appointments as a political launchpad and removes the incumbent advantage.
67% of Bozeman voters wanted this study because we want a government responsible to theelectors, not one that preserves its own views regardless of public input.
