Dear Commissioner Sweeney:
Thank you for your thoughtful questions and comments last night (City Commission
meeting, February 3) re the City's in-development Gooch Hill Area (GHA) Plan and the in-
development public engagement process for this plan.
Although not yet widely known, the City's upcoming construction of a wastewater lift station
near the intersection of Valley Center Road and Harper Puckett Road will induce urbandevelopment into this predominantly agricultural area, which contains watercourses and
wetlands important to wildlife.
Especially, I appreciated your emphasizing the need for the City to apply its watercourseand wetlands development codes and use the Gallatin Valley Sensitive Lands Plan to help
protect this area's natural resources and wildlife corridors as development occurs. Also, Iappreciated your emphasizing the importance of respecting this area's agricultural heritage
as development occurs.
Again, thank you for being well prepared last night to ask questions of City staff and theconsultant who will head up the GHA Plan and the GHA public engagement process.
