Dear City of Bozeman Planning Staff,
I am a Bozeman resident living in Meadow Creek Subdivision, writing to provide publiccomment on the Rocky Mountain Flats subdivision (SP 24296).
While I recognize the need for affordable housing, I have concerns regarding traffic, parking, and neighborhood impacts associated with this project. The Traffic Impact Report projects
approximately 1,995 additional daily vehicle trips, which will significantly affect FowlerLane, Meah Lane, and the Meadow Creek neighborhood. Site plan documents appear
inconsistent regarding traffic-calming measures at the Meah Lane entrance, specifically thepresence or absence of a bump-out to slow traffic entering Meadow Creek. I recommend that a
traffic-calming feature, such as the bump-out shown in Sheet 006-C3.2, be required as part ofproject approval.
Parking availability is also a concern. Based on the submitted site plans, the developmentincludes 296 units and approximately 752 bedrooms but only 243 parking spaces. This is
likely to result in spillover parking into surrounding neighborhoods, particularly MeadowCreek, where overnight street parking is not allowed. Clear plans for parking management,
signage, and enforcement should be addressed prior to approval.
Additionally, the proposed building height and density appear out of character with the
surrounding area, and there are limited nearby city services or public transportation options, which may further increase traffic and infrastructure strain.
Thank you for considering these comments as part of the public record.
Sincerely,
Karl SchwartzMeadow Creek Resident
