Good afternoon. My name is Lathie Poole. I live at 930 Bridger Lake Drive about 1.5 miles north of Bozeman city
limits.
As to the issues being addressed today I would like to voice my opinion.
1) eliminate the deputy mayor position. There seems to be no obvious need for it. It clutters up the election process
and is an unnecessary expense.
2) let’s have seven ward based commissioners. Our voices need to be heard.
3) reduce the pay for these posts. I was surprised to learn that they are the highest in the state which seems
unnecessary.
4) hold special elections for the vacated positions. Appointing one’s friends guarantees them reelection by reason of
a 90% incumbency reelection rate.
5) have terms of 2 to 3 years and limit them to one reelection.
6) no additional elected offices. City manager should carefully fill newly created positions based on merit.
