While not a resident of Bozeman I am in Bozeman usually twice weekly and want to see the
best for Bozeman. Here is how I stand on issues:
The Deputy Mayor: Should we eliminate this “waiting room” position so the
Mayor can lead on day one? (We say: Yes.)
Size & Salary: Do we want a larger, 7-member Commission elected by Wards to
ensure your specific neighborhood is represented? Do we want “Citizen Leaders”
with modest stipends, or full-time career politicians with high salaries and
benefits? (We say: 7 Ward Seats & Modest Stipends.)
Filling Vacancies: Should the Commission keep hand-picking their own
replacements, or should the public get a special election every time a seat opens
up? (We say: Special Elections.)
Partisanship: Should our local races stay focused on Bozeman’s needs, or should
we bring national party labels into City Hall? (We say: Keep it Non-Partisan.)
Additional Elected Offices: Should specialized roles like the Police Chief and City
Attorney become elected political offices? Or should they remain professional,
merit-based roles hired by a City Manager? (We say: Keep them hired;
professionalism over politics.)
