Linda Semones City Resident Dear Mayor Morrison, Deputy Mayor Fischer and Commissioner Bode, I am writing you to request that you not implement the increase to 90’ height in the B3 on February 1. The most logical action would be to place a stay on the implementation until more thought can be given to this height increase. Time is short and the need to vet this decision is urgent. We have all listened to your heartfelt speeches on the necessity of creating affordable housing. We believe you are sincere and therefore cannot understand this decision. Voting for this increase from 70’ to 90’ guts your Affordable Housing Ordinance. It provides millions to developers who are no longer required to offer affordable housing for additional building height. Nor will the city receive cash in lieu of affordable housing for the extra height. Millions are being given away. The height should be leveraged to produce affordable units. It is very true that the height increase issue requires closer examination. However, the solution is not to let the 90’ provision take effect and then try to adjust it later. This could lead to takings issues and lawsuits. Reviewing this decision after it takes effect will create chaos. Please stay this decision to allow for further analysis as needed. Sincerely, Linda Semones City Resident
