Dear Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and Commissioners,
I'm writing today to ask you to include the following in your priorities for the next two years. Why am I writing??
There are so many reasons that Bozeman is a cool place. It doesn’t have to be like every other town or city. Be
creative and open your heart to the energy of Bozeman, and the heartbeat that keeps this town alive. That heartbeat
comes from the residents who love their neighbors, support local businesses, walk or ride bikes, pick up trash, take
care of and keep up their yards, shovel walks, and care about the Gallatin Valley. Please, moving forward, keep an
open heart, full of curiosity, as often as you are able.
Please add a chapter to our Growth Policy/Community Plan that will identify fundamental resources and values that
we can uphold and preserve as we grow. This chapter could be called Heritage Conservation. The Landmark
consultants had these two suggestions:
1). Integrate preservation with broader planning issues – housing, resilience, land conservation, cultural heritage,
and economic development.
2). Consider integrating historic preservation into broader planning efforts such as the Bozeman CommunityPlan
(Growth Policy), as is done with other community planning efforts.
Standing by,
Patty McGown
