STRATEGIC PLAN:6.5 Parks, Trails & Open Space: Support the maintenance and expansion of an interconnected system of parks, trails and open spaces. BACKGROUND:Our annual Arbor Day Celebration marks the start of each planting season. Next year's planning efforts are starting earlier than usual, to combine a volunteer tree planting with community engagement for our 2026 Urban Forest Management Plan (UFMP). The Forestry Division has resources to increase the scale and impact of this event, building off last year's success at Oak Springs Park and planting a similar number of trees (around 20). Choosing an ideal site is a current priority, as we'll soon be selecting a consultant to initiate development of the UFMP. UNRESOLVED ISSUES:None. ALTERNATIVES:None. FISCAL EFFECTS:None.
