To the staff, and Commissioners, I just sent a TED talk titled: "Why are we demolishing
homes during a housing crisis?" The major point is that once you allow much taller buildings,it is worth it to demolish the existing housing and this has social and ecological consequences.
It does not encourage the renovation of existing buildings. Soon one of the older apartmentsdowntown will probably change hands and if much taller buildings are permitted, the older
apartments will have no value....it will be time for lots of luxury units to get big views andgood luck to the previous tenants. Renters are the Bozeman residents who need protection,
not developers. It is not the role of city government to make sure they turn a profit. Yourecently voted to protect the current multi-unit buildings in the BonTon district. Thank you.
