Read-Only Content Full Name Christopher Rogge Email chrisoverwatch42@gmail.com Phone (360) 922-8332 Comments I was recently made aware of the ban on riding a bicycle on the sidewalk in Bozeman (Sec. 36.10.110.B) . I was not aware of it in my several years of bicycle commuting, and so may the majority of cyclists, as three out of five I see are riding on the sidewalk. This law is prudent in a city with ample bicycle infrastructure, which Bozeman currently is not. Many roads lack bike lanes altogether, including significant stretches of 19th Avenue and other roads where cars' 40+ mph speeds make road riding far more dangerous. Even when bike lanes are available, it is common for snow to be plowed into them, rendering them unusable for large stretches of the year. The current blanket ban on riding on the sidewalk does not consider the real road conditions that cyclists face. I suggest limiting it to when a bike lane is present and usable, and/or for E-bikes.
