Dear Members of the Bozeman City Commission,
I am writing to express my opposition to the proposed city-funded “Tenant Right to Counsel”ordinance and related landlord–tenant mediation, as it will most likely raise housing costs for
tenants and small landlords, enable misuse of taxpayer-funded legal aid for minor complaints,suffer from the same underfunding and limited effectiveness seen in similar programs
nationwide, and further destabilize the rental market by prompting some landlords to reduce orremove rental units. With unclear long-term costs, unclear benefits, and no established metrics
for success, this proposal poses significant risks, and I urge the Commission to oppose it andto schedule public hearings at times accessible to working residents. Thank you for your
