Hello City Commissioners, Mayor, Deputy Mayor,
My name is Paige Lisowski and I am a renter in the Bon Ton neighborhood.
At the last UDC meeting, I heard that renters were intentionally left out of the
conversation about the zoning amendment proposal. I was motivated to gather renterinput so I asked for help from Forward Montana to get some opinions from them.
We created a survey to gather input from renters about what they think the zone oftheir neighborhood should be. We wrote these questions with the intention of creating
as unbiased of a survey as possible. We distributed a flier with a link to the surveywithin the boundary of the part of the Bon Ton that is up for downzoning.
Attached you will find a link to the survey results, with identifying information
removed. We received responses from 30 renters and an overview of theirpreferences is shown below for ease of reference. I am also including a link to the
survey so you can see how the questions were phrased.
While this feedback is coming late into the conversation, I hope that you all take into consideration the perspective of renters. The message is clear: if you include
everyone, the neighborhood is not unanimously asking for downzoning all the way to RA.
