I understand that you are considering a proposal from ASMSU to create a non-voting, ex officio student seat on
every advisory board for the city of Bozeman.
With students only in Bozeman temporarily, and the decisions made havinglong term implications and impact for
decades to come, does not seem like a good proposal.
They are not taxpayers and have no “skin in the game” and will not bear the cost of policies they have input on.
It also creates unequal representation, no other group, such as seniors, taxpayers, landlords and business owners,
receive a seat in those advisory boards.
Instead, I would like to see you expand public participation without creating permanent demographic seats.
