To: Bozeman City Commission, Bozeman Director of Community Development From: Shana Wood Re: Centennial Park Neighborhood UDC Zone Revision Date: 1 December 2025 To Whom it May Concern: I live in the Northeast Neighborhood and I am writing once again in support of the CentennialPark Neighborhood’s resident-led proposal to change the proposed UDC zone from R-C to R-A. I was disappointed to learn that after a majority of the Commission agreed the UDC revisionprocess was a suitable place to resolve the citizen-led downzoning initiative (rather than azone map amendment), the community development board did not honor the Centennial ParkNeighborhood’s request for R-A zoning. They recommended R-B zoning. The Centennial ParkNeighborhood’s proposal has significant support from surrounding neighborhoods (theNortheast Neighborhood Association) and importantly, is supported by the Inter-Neighborhood Council. There is wide citizen and neighborhood support in general for trustingand supporting other neighbors’ decisions about how they want their neighborhood to grow. Our Centennial Park neighbors are not opposed to growth or denser building and support themoderate densification proposed in the new R-A code (and probably welcome it as I do). But Iknow they do cherish the character of the existing built and natural environment, socio-economic factors such as affordability, and spatial relationship to adjacent neighborhoods. They appreciate their sunlight, yards, trees and gardens. And of course, they welcome moreliving spaces and new neighbors. But they want the neighborhood to maintain a more human-scale environment with incremental infill. Please consider and weigh my neighbors’ significantefforts and dedication to the process of citizen engagement. I ask that you grant theCentennial Park Neighborhood request for R-A zoning as part of the UDC revision. Sincerely, Shana Wood 506 E Cottonwood Street Bozeman, MT 59715
