Dear Commissioners,
My name is Nicki Bailey and I live in Bozeman. I’m a local landlord renting long-term
housing here, and I care a lot about my tenants’ stability and about keeping people in thiscommunity housed and off the streets.
I support passing a Tenant Right to Counsel ordinance because it makes the eviction process
more fair, humane, and professional for everyone involved. When tenants have representation,it’s easier to resolve problems without needless conflict, damaged relationships, or worse. It is
also far more cost-effective for our city to prevent homelessness than to respond to it after thefact.
Bozeman is already under housing strain. If nothing changes, more families will be pushed out
or onto the streets. Over the holiday weekend, I was with friends from Portaland whoreiterated that PDX's challenges continue to be extremely difficult to solve without more
physical housing. With Right to Counsel, tenants get a fair shot to stay housed, and ourcommunity keeps the workers, neighbors, and families who make this place stronger.
I urge you to fully fund and pass a strong Tenant Right to Counsel ordinance.
Sincerely,
Nicki BaileyBozeman, MT
