To: Bozeman City CommissionersFrom: Jeffrey Loeb (Bozeman resident)Date: 11/26/25 As the Commission enters the home stretch to finalize an updated UDC and will meet 12/2 for whatmay be a final discussion or even vote, I present my thoughts below: - You have worked tirelessly and it is appreciated. Can't be easy. - I was a bit unsettled to hear that the language relating to frats/sororities which was approved by theDevelopment Board (I believe Monday 11/17) was not an easy "accept change" for the CityCommissioners last week (11/18). I am confused by this. The "frat-in-single-family-home" situation of 2-3 years ago (I refer to as Garfieldgate) causedenormous disruption for neighbors, the police and the frat....a classic lose-lose-lose. I would'vethought the language recently approved by the Development Board referencing one contiguous singlemeeting room of enough size to accommodate it's members' meetings (as suggested by thecommunity) is so clearly a common sense win-win-win solution. A frat/sorority must have sufficientmeeting room space in order to operate (or act) like an actual Greek house, shouldn't it? The age oldmeme, "if it looks like a duck, quacks likes a duck, then it must be a duck" would understandably applyhere I think. I just don't understand why the City would want to encourage (as opposed to discourage)another Garfieldgate situation. Please help me understand the thinking. I strongly support the language approved by the Development Board last week relating to this issue. Again, my thanks for your tireless efforts and enjoy a great Thanksgiving.
