Good Morning!
Happy Gratitude Awareness Eve - as I've dubbed it. Given how we've treated the Native Americans, I'm
shifting the perspective a bit. I'm grateful for so many things and one of them is finding out about
Bozeman! I moved here in 2020 and not from California, haha. I haven't bought up a fancy condo or
flipped a home site unseen for 50k cash over asking.
I've paid rent to current residents whose taxes have risen and I'm also a local swim teacher, helping our
community's children feel confident, empowered and safe in the water. I shop local, compost, eat plant
based and drive a fuel efficient vehicle too! So I like to think I've improved the community.
I am also grateful for the fact that I can flip open my laptop and show up in person on December 2, (see
you soon!) and do my civic duty, through freedom of speech, and share with you, something that I think
most everyone in Bozeman can get behind: the preservation of the beauty of what makes Bozeman,
Bozeman. Nature of course! THAT is what attracts the developers, the tourists, the $$$. This isn't just
another cookie cutter American town but a designated Tree City, the Last Best Place.
Your civic duty is to listen to your constituents, and we'd like for you to keep it that way.
One way you can do that is by simplifying things. Swapping out "to the extend possible" to "maximum".
Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
Although protecting Nature should be an obvious obligation of our city's government, it hasn't yet been
written into code. That is where We, the People, with our voices and votes, those whom representatives,
well, represent, step in.
That said, thank you for receiving this information, processing it, and then, implementing what you've
processed. That's how things work, no?! Updating the outdated language to reflect the ever increasing
need, to protect our environment, in a world where the destruction of nature is happening at such a scary
pace.
I think it finally snowed there? I'm in Denver so I'm not certain but sheesh, global warming is really
frightening isn't it? We have to do all we can, to protect our mother. And every little bit helps, as you
know. Doing something is ALWAYS better than nothing.
Thank you for all you do and for actually listening to us. People are so busy today, its a challenge to
participate in politics when it feels like our voice is not heard, especially when we are acting on behalf of
the voiceless, the trees and animals. The other Native Americans so to speak.
See you December 2 to let my voice be heard, in person. Looking forward to meeting you all and thank
you for protecting the environment (a no brainer!) I'm not sure why this is something we need to be even
speaking up for but here we are, and here you are, and here is an opportunity to shine!
Thanks a bunch!
