This Thanksgiving, help us fight fordisability justice in Montana Gratitude, Action, and a Bold Future for Disability Rights READ IN APP Donate to DRMT Dear friends, As we gather for Thanksgiving, I’m reflecting on the gratitude I have for what we’re building together. This year, Disability Rights Montana has sparked powerful conversations through NOV 26 our Growth Rings platform to help us all build a new future for Montana and turned vision into action through our daily advocacy. Here’s what we’ve accomplished together: Filed four statewide systemic lawsuits, including one that has already resulted in doubling the years of high school students with disabilities receive. Protected voting rights for people with mental illness, dementia, and developmental disabilities, both in institutions and in the community. Monitored over 100 disability service sites, several schools, dozens of assisted living facilities, and dozens of government buildings to ensure legal compliance and safety. Led advocacy alongside a statewide coalition that successfully pressured Montana’s Attorney General to withdraw a dangerous attack on Section 504, the nation’s oldest disability civil rights law. Engaged with 87 bills during the legislative session, defeating efforts to restrict voting rights and housing access, and helping pass Medicaid expansion and a first-in-the-nation dementia/mental illness community care law. We did all this while facing unprecedented financial pressure. Over the past six months, I’ve had to lay off half our staff. Those who remain are working tirelessly to meet the needs of our community. Now, we need your help. Your donation will help us: Rebuild our advocacy workforce; Support a state-wide, multi-organizational cultural and civic engagement initiatives through The Collective Disruption; and Continue fighting for justice in schools, hospitals, prisons, and neighborhoods across Montana. We literally cannot do this without you. Your gift fuels storytelling, organizing, and systemic change led by disabled Montanans. It helps us move beyond compliance and toward collective liberation. Donate now to help us close the year strong and open the door to a bold 2026.
