Hello Community Development Board (CDB),
My name is Robert Downs and I live on the corner of North Tracy Ave and East Aspen St (5 E
Aspen St). I have lived in the Northside neighborhood for over 20 years. I am anEngineer/Product Developer at Simms Fishing. I have seen the neighborhood evolve and
change, mostly for the better. I am pro growth but not at the expense of resident's privateproperty being compromised by developer's projects and personal gains.
I am writing this email to express my disappointment in the CDB voting to recommend to the
City Commission for the Centennial Park Neighborhood to be zoned R-B instead of thecurrent UDC designation of R-A.
The Centennial Park Neighborhood has been very involved in the re-zoning process and there
is a lot of data that shows the R-A designation is reasonable. This level of engagement by theCentennial Park Neighborhood is commendable. I am assuming this is why the new UDC map
shows R-A designation.
I recommend the CDB to respect the process and the people that live in Centennial ParkNeighborhood. The CDB recommendation to the City Commission to be zoned to R-B is tone
deaf, and makes me question if the CDB does enough of their research and reads the residents'comments.
What outside influences and information are contributing to the CDB catering to developer's
needs?
The Centennial Park Neighborhood has a special and unique charm. It will continue to grow, evolve and densify. Please don't ruin it with your own ambitions and lack of foresight.
Sincerely,
Robert Downs
