TO: Erin George
My name is Marjorie Jackson. I write not as a resident of Sundance Community but as a
resident of Bozeman in sympathy with any neighborhoods including Sundance Springs
which have been or might be denied what they have been promised by the city of
Bozeman.
Most importantly, in the specific case of Sundance Springs, the new application still violates
the PUD and the Master Plan which contain the Covenants and Development Guidelines
with respect to number of buildings, building size, permission for outdoor activities,
adequate parking, adherence to neighborhood services, and preservation of open spaces.
I would like to express several concerns.
1.
The proposed development is not designed to be in the service of the “local
community” but will draw in people from all over town. As a citizen I would like
the city of Bozeman to require developers planning to develop “community
services” to identify what the community services the local community needs
and wants and to build accordingly.
2.
As Bozeman grows many of our open spaces are being lost. I have been a
user of the trails in the Sundance Springs area for many years and, as
designed, those remaining trails have provided a place to reflect and
experience nature free from risks of traffic congestion and increased drunk
driving that the current proposed plan would bring.
3.
My heart goes out to Sundance Springs residents whose children’s safety
would be compromised and whose private lives would be invaded by
encroaching parking on narrow streets, both concerns due to insufficient
parking provided for the anticipated use of the development.
I have seen the toll taken on the residents of Sundance Springs who are given the onus of
fighting for what they have already been promised. I would be proud to be a citizen of a city
governed by commissioners and aided by staff who can stand by their previous
commitments. Please reject Application #25238 and enforce the legally binding Master Plan
and PUD.
