I am writing in support of the Bon Ton Rezoning Proposal. As far as I understand, there is no information on why a
small portion of the Bon Ton area is zoned differently from the area that surrounds it, but there is no doubt that this
small area has been and continues to be part of of the greater neighborhood.
This neighborhood, including the area in the proposal, is a community that respects its history, preserves its historic
houses and values its large trees. It is not an isolated enclave. It is a walkable pathway connecting Main Street and
the University. It provides street parking when downtown events overflow. People from other areas walk their dogs
on its sidewalk. On Halloween the neighborhood attracts and provides a safe place for hundreds of children and
families.
My hope is that Bozeman will respect the neighborhoods that have been part of its development. They preserve the
character of our city, something that attracted many of us in the first place. Destroy the neighborhoods and the
character will be destroyed. We will become like many places, a carbon copy of standard urban development.
Sincerely,
Inese Wheeler
