Dear City Commission: As a resident of 116 S.11th Avenue, I am urging you not to up-zone S 11th Avenue. My husband and I bought our 800 sq. ft. fixer-upper home in 2016. We decided to buy it andfix it up because of its location. We can walk almost anywhere in town: downtown, MSU, relatives' homes, the trail system, the Coop, etc. We also decided to buy it because we love thesmall practical houses and our neighbors who live in them. Many are students and young professionals. Everyone is working hard to make ends meet to live here. When people callBozeman "Bozangeles", I tell them, "that doesn't describe our neighborhood in Bozeman." My concern is this may change. I do not mind some changes in infrastructure. Infact, I see many areas of Bozeman where change seems good. What I do mind is perfectly good housingin our neighborhood (there are some exceptions) being destroyed to fit Bozeman's up-zone plans. South 11th Avenue already has mixed housing. I know there are single family homes(ours), duplexes and 4-plexes (down the street), 8-plexes (next door), and townhouses (across the street). This is mixed housing! Why does it need to be torn down? I am also concerned for neighboring streets of S.10th and 12th Avenues. Are their homes andneighborhoods going to be overshadowed by up-zoning S.11th Avenue? Is there going to be a transition of housing when up-zoning? These streets have more single family homes. Youngfamilies moved onto these streets because it is a quieter neighborhood with less traffic. This inevitably will change their neighborhoods as well. I also have safety concerns for pedestrians, bicyclists, and MSU/BHS students/teams using S11th Avenue. Speeding cars put them in jeopardy. Both my husband and I have called the police reporting speeding. My husband has asked for the "speed alert sign" to be put onS.11th because we get nowhere with our calls. He was told there is a waiting list. We see cars racing daily between Babbcock and College. Speeding is not a problem on S. 11th Avenuewhen traffic is backed up during morning or evening commutes or before or after MSU games. (especially football games) Needless to say, S 11th Avenue is a busy street. Up-zoning willonly exacerbate safety concerns. I hope you will consider my concerns as to why I do not want S 11th Avenue up-zoned. Thank you for reading my email. I appreciate your time. Sincerely,Trish Sherman Bozeman resident116 S. 11th Avenue
