Bozeman City Commissioners,
I am writing in support of the draft UDC Proposed Zoning Map “as is” – in particular, the
change from R-C to R-A zoning at the north end of the Bon Ton Historic District.
The Bon Ton neighbors made a compelling case in their Proposal for consistent and contextualR-A zoning across the entire Bon Ton. The neighbors received the support of 33 of the 56
property owners within the boundaries of their zone. And the neighbors probably would havereceived even more support had they had additional time to expand their outreach efforts. Note
that not a single property owner said “no”!
It has come to my attention that at the eleventh hour some people have been attempting todismiss, discredit, or even disparage the Bon Ton Rezoning Proposal and the neighbors who
worked so hard to put it together. This is upsetting.
So I ask you this: If the voice of the Bon Ton neighbors does not matter, then whose voicematters? And if you, the Commission, are not representing these citizens, many of whom have
dedicated decades of their lives to make this City what it is, then who are you representing?
I am convinced that the one thing that unites all Bozemanites is their recognition thatBozeman is a truly unique place and not just some cookie-cutter town that could be Anywhere,
USA. There is an opportunity here to preserve and protect a part of Bozeman that is special.Seize it!
Thank you,
Jason Sarisky
